Welcome to day 5, our final day in the Spirituality 101 series. Thank you for your genuine interest in this journey. I hope these lessons have brought valuable insights and wisdom into your life.
The discoveries I've shared have profoundly impacted my life. By sharing them, I playfully hope they bring the same transformation to you.
We have a tremendous opportunity in this life, gifted through grace, to connect with something truly extraordinary. As we embody these insights and make space for them, they become our new normal. Yet, even in their simplicity, they bring a beautiful calm and peaceful gratitude for the vast miracle we find ourselves in.
For me, there is nothing more important than honoring my human journey by embracing a path that seeks to understand more deeply what is real and true.

There is a subtle trap many people encounter on the spiritual quest:
Most people turn to spirituality because their usual ways of navigating the world don't seem to connect them with what they're searching for. This often leads to the assumption:
“Since I cannot find what is missing through my normal way of navigating the world, perhaps spirituality can help me find it.”
Can you see that the common struggle in our human journey is that we are fundamentally looking for something that always seems to escape our grasp, or it sometimes appears as if life is (or others are) conspiring against us?
In this painful struggle, we ask the question: "Wait, what is really going on here?"
That question is the seed of the spiritual impulse. It reflects our desire to understand the nature of self and life more deeply, allowing us to connect more profoundly with what we crave.
What is often not recognized is that the difficulties we face in our everyday lives stem from a fundamental misunderstanding about ourselves and life. When we turn to spirituality, we frequently bring this same confusion with us, transferring the struggle from a worldly context to a spiritual one.
The beauty in spirituality is that it isn't about granting your every wish but rather about healing the misunderstandings that cause suffering. By addressing these misunderstandings, you can return to your everyday life—your worldly life—minus the deep-rooted suffering that once made being human so challenging.
If you look at the nature of your suffering or any emotional pain, you will find a root assumption about yourself that says:
“Who I am is not enough.”
This assumption can show up in countless ways. At its core, it's a self-judgment that makes you feel unwhole, incomplete, or unworthy of the love you crave.
This is what we try to fix in our worldly search. Yet, no matter what we do, acquire, how much money we have, or how many people seem to love or like us, the reality of healing this painful inadequacy remains elusive.
This misunderstanding has two parts, making it especially challenging:
First, it tells us, “who I am is not enough.” Then, it suggests, “I can solve this problem by becoming enough.”
Spirituality invites you to see that the problem you see isn’t really a problem. Trying to solve it only reinforces a belief in a problem that’s not really there.
Spirituality isn’t about fixing yourself to “become” enough. It's about healing the misunderstanding that stops you from seeing yourself clearly.
Again, this is all about seeing what’s real and true. The “TRAP” lies in believing that spirituality is about fixing yourself.
Another way to put it is that spirituality invites you to recognize that what you perceive as a problem isn’t actually a problem at all.
However, and this is beautiful to recognize, the more one believes in the problem, the less they want to see that the problem isn’t really a problem. The more you believe in the problem, then your frame of reference is always secretly saying, “Just help me fix the problem!” Which is also like saying, “I don’t care about what’s real and true, just help me get what I want.”
Why is this lesson called “It’s Okay to Be Human”?
Because, on the spiritual journey, we often carry a self-judgment that views our "humanness" as flawed, broken, or somehow "in the way."
We look at our raw humanity—our fears, struggles, doubts, vulnerabilities, and emotional ups and downs—and see them as evidence of "what is wrong with us." We judge them and compare them to the "fantasy of a photoshopped version of ourselves held in the mind, that we deem as more lovable."
We think, "If only I can get rid of my humanness, my raw humanity, if only I can match this photoshopped version of myself, then… I can be whole, complete, and finally lovable."
This assumes, and painfully so, that… "It’s not okay to just be human."
What you will discover, if you’re open to it, is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with your humanness. In fact, the way it is, as it is, is the perfect doorway to accessing the deeper sincerity of what you crave.
I understand if this might be difficult to see, and that is perfectly fine. We often look through a lens of fearful conditioning, convinced by society that what you are is fundamentally broken. Through this lens, everything appears broken.
The good news is: The real opportunity of spirituality is designed to help you see beyond that filter, so you can see yourself, others, and life more clearly. The outcome of this is to see and connect with a Love that is already here and can never truly be lost.
What you are seeking, that fundamental thing you are trying to connect with, is already here, already available. The question is, are you open to see it?
Be still, and ask yourself these two questions:
I encourage you to ask yourself, "What's next?" and be as honest as possible with your response.
The answer will be different for everyone, and that’s beautifully allowed. The true answer, for you, will be whatever feels most sincere and true.
