For myself, here are the 3 biggest WHYs that illustrate the importance of engaging the path of being a heart-based solopreneur.
1. PURPOSE
Being a heart-based solopreneur is like seeing my human as an instrument designed to add value to other people's lives. Knowing that my function is to help others experience and connect with more love, compassion, and freedom gives my life a sense of purpose that is a bit beyond description.
This isn't so much a choice as it is a deep realization about what's true. As I get out of my own way, and my life becomes a life of service, I'm infinitely more concerned about what I can GIVE than what I can get. If I'm concerned about what I can get, then I'm focused on what seems to be missing. When focused on GIVING, I'm more acutely aware of the value I already have. This is the difference between being focused on lack or abundance.
Even if what I want to give is not yet a well-defined value within me, I have the capacity to learn and grow into that value. This is an abundant opportunity that gives my life focus and purpose. I am not missing that value; rather, I am fully capable of directing my attention towards bringing that value into my life.
On the other hand, lacking a purpose in my life felt like simply trying to survive or get by. I was at the mercy of some external purpose, where my life was determined by what the world wanted from me, rather than honoring what was deeply sincere. I was being pulled around, ultimately waiting for the ride of life to just be over.
2. PASSION
At the core of being a "Heart-Based" Solopreneur is a genuine passion that honors the sincerity of your human interests. I'm not doing and learning what other people want me to do and learn. I'm getting in touch with the authenticity of my humanness, and I'm answering the call of what my unique instrument is here to do and learn.
As children, we become conditioned to give up our sovereignty. We end up giving our lives over to the emotional insecurities of others. We abandon ourselves through fearful manipulation, where society says, "Do what I want you to do, and then I'll love you. Learn what I want you to learn, and then I'll give you a gold star of approval."
Our lives become a form of constant approval-seeking, and this only further disconnects us from the sincerity of our human journey.
When we come into this world, everything we see is a miracle, and certain things capture our attention and interest. We are then drawn into deep learning and growth. When you engage in something that is genuinely interesting to you, it's fueled by passion, and you learn and grow rapidly.
When you engage and learn something that someone else wants you to learn (without the sincerity of your own curiosity), it's fueled by a fear of not being accepted. What you get is the opposite of rapid growth and learning.
Being a Heart-based solopreneur is permission to learn and grow in the areas in which I'm genuinely interested. I'm rapidly learning and growing, and then I'm sharing what I learn with others and getting paid for it in the process.
In contrast, the old path was to get paid by learning and growing in areas that someone else wanted me to learn and grow in; which, in a way, diminished the passion I could experience.
3. PLAY
When my life has a purpose and I am passionately engaged in learning and growing, there’s this playful quality that emerges. Similar to being a curious and free child, the process of learning and growing is not serious, but rather playful. I am not so much "trying" to learn and grow, but rather playing, and the natural byproduct of my play is learning and growth.
Being a profitable Heart-Based Solopreneur affords me the time and space to play, and simply gives me so many more options to explore what's deeply sincere. Furthermore, as I support other humans on their journey and watch them make tiny steps and shifts that add tremendous value to their lives, my heart smiles in the most beautiful and playful way.
There is a profound difference between playing a game that you actually want to play and playing a game that you feel forced to play. Most humans are playing a game that they feel forced to play, and it is a game that they are not genuinely interested in. This only breeds all manner of resentments toward life, others, and ourselves.
The path and opportunity of Heart-Based Solopreneurship is a game that entails diving into my genuine interests, growing rapidly, and then sharing that value I discover with other human beings. Maybe in a simpler way, it's about loving myself and then sharing that love with others, all while getting paid for it in the process.
If I am honest with myself, I have to ask this question: "Do I want to play a serious game that I don't really want to play, or do I want to create and play a game that truly allows me to PLAY?" Another way of asking is: "Do I want to play a game of fear, or do I want to play a game of love?"
