The Mind’s Stories and the Noise They Create The mind loves to spin stories—about who we are, what we lack, and how life should be. It convinces us that we’re broken and that if we just solved this one thing, we’d finally be okay. "The irony? The more we try to fix the noise, the louder it gets." But here’s the truth: these stories are harmless, temporary, and ultimately not real. The mind isn’t the enemy—it’s just doing its thing. You don’t have to solve its noise; you can simply notice it and let it pass. Reflection: What stories are you holding onto that aren’t serving you? The Nature of Desire Desire itself isn’t the issue; it’s our relationship to it that creates confusion. Here’s a key distinction: Desire vs. Desired: I shared that “the sensation of desire—the energy of longing—is different from the mind’s image of what it thinks you desire.” For instance, you might feel pulled toward freedom, but the mind might translate that as needing a billion dollars or the ability to fly. Recognizing this difference is where clarity begins. A Universal Longing We also looked at how desire mirrors our deeper truth. At its core, every human desire stems from a longing to reconnect with: Love Wholeness Freedom A sense that “all is well” Even in the nuances of sexual or financial desires, I invited you to notice how these seemingly different cravings reflect the same fundamental pull. “There’s a longing in all of us,” I said, “to experience what we already are.” Confusion and Distortion When we forget that the essence of what we desire is already within us, things get tricky. This is where anxiety, fear, and even conflict enter. “The confusion,” I explained, “is believing that what you desire is separate from you—outside of you. And then seeing people or circumstances as standing in the way.” From here, desire can become distorted, leading to behaviors rooted in control, fear, or even harm. A moment that stood out for many: “Imagine thinking you’re separate from what you want most, and others are withholding it from you. How does that frame your relationships with them?” Seeing Desire Clearly On the flip side, when we understand that “what we desire is already within us,” everything softens. There’s no need to chase, control, or fear. Instead, we can meet desire with playful curiosity, shifting from “I desperately need this” to “That could be fun to explore!” I illustrated this with a simple phrase: “The difference between fearful seriousness and sincere playfulness is night and day.” Why This Matters Understanding the mechanism of desire isn’t just theoretical; it’s practical. When you stop seeing desire as a problem or something “out there” to obtain, you: Experience less fear and anxiety Begin to see others as allies, not obstacles Tap into a more joyful, creative way of living A Playful Question to Reflect On Here’s something we pondered during the talk: “What if the desires that feel most compelling are actually invitations to experience new flavors of the truth you already are?” Wrapping Up The essence of this exploration was simple yet profound: Desire isn’t your enemy. It means letting go of control and stepping into the unknown. And it’s hard because the ego desperately wants to maintain its facade. But without honesty, we can’t create real connection. “The more we avoid hard conversations or difficult truths, the harder relationships become.” What Are You Avoiding? Maybe it’s taking responsibility for something in your life. Or maybe it’s just allowing yourself to feel what you’ve been suppressing. Summary We all have an aspect of ourselves that doesn't want to see the truth of life, and this creates an illusion of reality that we use to keep ourselves safe from the Truth of Life. Tiger invites us to look at how this relates to our ability to be sincere and honest. He examines the various ways in which we can convince ourselves that the lies we tell ourselves are actually the truth (”I’m not enough, I’m missing something, etc”), and how this can lead to a lack of self-awareness that pushes a way a real opportunity to BE Alive. Tiger explores why it can seem difficult to open up to the truth of life, and how it relates to our need to control outcomes and other people. Our fear of being vulnerable and facing the truth can prevent us from being our true selves. Additionally, consider the idea that we may be too attached to the illusions of our own making and unwilling to let go of them - even when we know them to be false. Look at all the illusions we have created, and compassionately understand why it can be difficult to be ourselves. Finally, Tiger questions what we are willing to give up in order to open up to the truth of life and be ourselves, and suggests that it requires courage to let go of our illusions and embrace life as it is. Either be what you are and embrace the truth of life, or… keep hiding from yourself, while trying to be what the world wants you to be.” Tiger 30:08 - “In suffering, you think there's something else that's more important than the truth of Life, the truth of what you are. My question extended to you is: what's more important than the truth of your own heart?” Tiger 35:49 - “I hope you're exhausted, because so often, it's when we're exhausted, we can be honest enough about the pain we're experiencing. That becomes an opening for us to look more sincerely at what's going on. We can see our innocent illusions and gently release them.”

Tiger shares an insightful perspective on the infinite worlds of worry that we can get caught up in. He explains that we are not actually worried about reality, but our mental content. He encourages us to come back to the present moment and to recognize that the answer to our worries is in the disappearance of the question. Tiger also points out that the mind's content can be quite threatening to the ego, and encourages us to not believe so much in our worries. He suggests that we explore the concept of meditation as something that can happen all the time, not just as an activity to get a particular outcome. Ultimately, he reminds us that the more we understand the authentic nature of meditation, the more profound the benefits. Quotes! Pre Broadcast Reflections The Effortless, Everything; Flow with Life (unedited) As a pointer, there are two types of effort. There is the effort of anxious determination that tries to swim upstream. Then, there is the effort of playful exploration, which, effortless, flows downstream. The world itself, effortless, don’t say “no-effort,” it says... “relax, my dear, effort-less.” The effort-full life is fraught with dissatisfaction and disappointment. There is a painful assumption that’s sees yourself at a great distance from what is desired. The subsequent conclusion is that you must fight the current of life, and fight yourself, if you are to ever make meaningful progress. Whatever progress is made, usually can only result in distain or apathy, for wherever you ended up didn’t provide the prize you thought would be there. We can call this a joyless victory that only offered a temporary high of imaginary self importance. Looking back, we see a life spent in conflict, in resistance, flavored with a self righteous sacrifice wrapped in a fear that at any moment you might lose it all. All the while, during this journey of joyless effort striving toward a joyless victory, we miss entirely the real point of being alive. A point that is much more about flow, enjoyment, and discovery, than it is about reach some ephemeral destination. Maybe, as a way of illustrating, we can ask ourselves a question. - am I engaged with effort in this action because I’m genuinely curious, or, am I engaged because the outcome has a chance of making me feel important? The first part of the question points toward a downstream flow, as I’m giving attention and effort to something that is already present and alive within me. The second part is an upstream battle that sees the present moment (life) as an obstacle between where you are and where you want to be. It makes perfect sense though, why we would operate in a way that fights life, or feels the real prize is in the future. This has been the conditioning, where society has told what you should be interested in, what you should be doing, and what self-congratulatory prize awaits you in the future for doing what you were told. Rather than letting go of you and inviting you to discover what’s already within you wanting to be explored. Asking you... “what adventure you are here to discovery; why are you ALIVE?” No, we say... “Let me tell you why you are alive. You are alive to make me feel important. You should do what I say, you should be my prisoner so that I can feel like I have some semblance of control.” What a fucking disaster. To truly flow with life, we must return to life; which is to turn away from what society and others demand of you (so they can hide from themselves), and get in touch with the aliveness within what you are. Get in touch with a worth and value already present, not projected into the future and given by others who are woefully confused about life. Given by those who value nonsense, like praising you because you’ve collected more trinkets than your neighbor. These people don’t see you, they see their own egocentric fantasy projected onto you. How gross is that to claim this as your own praise. The Effortless Life, is to connect with a guidance that knows where you go next. The guidance is never about a future prize, its never about being worshiped or validated by the worlds, it’s about the present moment unfolding of discovery. Just as a flower unfolds and blooms into life, we as human beings unfold and share our beauty with the world. We are not here to “get” something, for this only implies we are missing something. We are here to discover something beautiful... within what we are, and then share that beauty with the world. Pre-Broadcast Reflection Want for Nothing & Be Free Now, let’s go slow here. Such a statement as, “Want for Nothing and be Free,” is more of a pointer than an instruction or expectation. If we’re not careful, then we will find ourselves pretending not to want things so we can appear spiritual; which is wanting to appear spiritual. Or worse, we will “want” to not have wants. I love this pointer though, because, for me, there’s a profound truth to be discovered; an ancient truth that’s been pointed to for millennia. Is it really possible to not want for anything, in this spiritual context? Well, comically, and illustratively, there’s two versions of this. 1. We feel that we shouldn’t want, and so we refrain from wanting to the best of our ability and simply make do with what we have. This would be like having a bite today delicious food and then someone offers more. You recognize a hunger that wants more, but deprive yourself because of what someone else might think. 2. It’s recognized, observed, or seen that we simply have everything we need for us to feel abundantly present and grateful. In this state there’s nothing left to want because what is had is plenty. Kind of like being delightfully full after dinner; wanting more food simply isn’t an option. If dessert is offered, you experience more joy gifting it to someone else. Of course, this spiritual pointer isn’t referring to food; even though it could be applied in a healthy way. More so, it’s speaking to our attempts to fill the void within our human experience. The void of identity to be more precise, which plays itself out in a form of seeking to either gain acceptance or avoid rejection. Equally so and the same thing, is the seeking for emotional feelings that either validate a self identity, or avoid emotional feelings that threaten a self identity. This is like “wanting” a bigger house because you feel it will help you have more acceptance. Or, “wanting” someone to stay in a relationship with you because if they don’t… you’ll feel rejected. Now, again, go slow with me here. The invitation isn’t to stop these things, judge these things, or to create any expectations of How you should behave. Quite honestly, as humans, we will all have struggles with experiences like these examples throughout our lives. If anything, the pointer invites is to see something deeply true that helps to reduce (and at times eliminate) the burden that feels so separate from what we (think we) “want.” In summary, and my intention is to dive more deeply into this during the live broadcast, there’s a profound shift that happens as the truth of things is seen more clearly. The Shift… - a transformation from “I anxiously want,” to… “I would enjoy; but I’m also fine if not.” There’s a semantic issue here that we shouldn’t get lost in. Again, it’s not about the words, but more so about what assumptions and beliefs (energy) give breath to these words. Where do the words come from? If I fundamentally see what I am as incomplete, unwhole, or as not enough, then by default I will carry an anxious wanting that looks to remedy that in the world. I will want things in order to be that something I long to see myself as. Beyond the story I want to tell about myself, what it comes down to is… I’m trying to see myself and whole and complete. This suffering over identity, which is all suffering, is not evidence of something missing. Rather, it’s evidence that I don’t see what I truly am. It’s kind of like the experience of gratitude. The lack of gratitude isn’t because you’re missing something to be grateful for. Rather, it’s because you’re not seeing what you already have. As always, as I keep pointing back to, the suffering of anxious wanting is the result of an innocent misunderstanding. If you saw what is really true about you, the anxious want would vanish.
